So sad that the 'stache is now associated with creeps and candy.

Rod Beck, relief pitcher. Great stache. (Good mullet also.)

All-Time Facial Hair Team: (no DH as this is a real team and only crap players are regular DH's....I am looking at you Edgar Martinez)

Eddie, Eddie, Eddie... living in a National Lague cities has corrupted your baseball integrity. The DH is a real-live position in baseball, just like the lefty specialist who throws 7 pitches a week and earns 2 million bucks a season. Just because the JV League hasn't adopted it yet doesn't mean they are not real players. Edgar Martinez should be a Hall Of Famer, as will Frank Thomas. Either of those guys could play LF as (not so) well as ManRam does.

An all AL moustache all star team would demolish an all NL moustache all star team, and therefore have home field advantage in the World Moustache Series.

Heck, I think I can build an all Yankee moustache team that'd compete. (Oscar Gamble, Reggie, Goose, Winfield, Donnie Baseball, Thurman Munson, and Billy Martin as skipper.)

Might I remind you not to glorify the 'staches of yesteryear while overlooking the all-stars of today. And yes, I would take Youkilis as my firstbaseman on the all-stache team over Mattingly in a heartbeat (now watch the Yankees fans heads explode).

YOOOOOOUUUUUK!

Been avoiding this thread, not a big fan of baseball but was an avid card collector up until the early 90's. Funny how this thread has turned to talking about 'staches, Chris and I exchanged emails about this very thing...Gossage was the one that inspired but i found a better example....Oscar Gamble

Eddie is right, the DH rule is something that should be done away with entirely...real pitchers bat for themselves

I disagree. As a fan who pays rapidly increasing prices for tickets, cable/satellite viewing privileges, I’ve always preferred to see David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez, Harold Baines or any of the great DHs go up and take his hacks than see Greg Maddux or Randy Johnson flail pathetically at or disinterestedly watch three pitches go by and then take a seat on the bench. How is that fun?

I'm with Brian on this one...I understand why purists don't like the DH, but I don't mind it all, I like it actually. The fact is, the NL is the ONLY league left that doesn't have a DH. Hell, once you get above Little League you have a DH.

With two outs and runners in scoring position, who would you rather see bat: Brad Penny or Travis Haffner? There is no comparison. Nothing kills the game like an automatic out batting 9th.

frankly I don't care about the "easy out" scenario... I just don't like the DH, if you aren't man enough to hit and play defense you shouldn't be out there

There is no strategy is American baseball. I often find it unwatchable.

To whomever brought up Frank Thomas...Frank Thomas is a lock first ballot hall of famer for me. HE is the best player of the last 15-20 years for me. All legit numbers, back to back MVP's...500 HR's...1700 RBI's including 9 in 10 years (back when that meant something)...the guy never struck out very much (by standards to his contemporaries)....300 career hitter and .419 OBP...nearly 1,700 walks. The guy is incredible and really was the best player of the last twenty years. People forget just how good he was.
