Cardiac Arrest. Dies in Los Angeles at UCLA Medical Center at age fifty. TMZ first reported it, and LA Times and Associated Press confirm the death. This is a sad day.

He may have had a few controversies in his life, but i don't think anyone can argue with him being a musical genius, a dancing machine and legend.

To use Dave Chappelle's words "He made Thriller!" Probably one of the best albums ever recorded. Just a sad week Ed McMahon passing away, Farrah Fawcett losing her battle with cancer, now Michael Jackson the King of Pop. Just makes me appreciate life even more.

TMZ is worse than the damn Sun. I'll believe it when a reputable news source says he's officially dead. There's still reports out there that he's still alive, but in a coma.

Sad day in deed. First Farrah Fawcett, then Michael Jackson latter...

What I want to know is, now that MJ is dead, who has the rights to the Beatles songs?

I am just in shock how many people are grieving MJ's death. Would people be mourning OJ? I find them as equally despicable. No matter how good of an "artist" he was, it was all pointless after he touched kids.

Should we mourn a talented person? I say no because it was that talent that allowed him to escape a kid touching rap.

I feel bad for his kids. Who do they go to now; their Mom that abandoned them for money, Tito Jermaine, Latoya, Janet? Seriously who do they go to and to think they are still little kids. Well, at least they'll have a shot at being normal now.

Michael Jackson was beyond talented. Music would not be what it is today without him. And a lot of musicians wouldn't be in the business today without him. He was a musical genius. Not saying I like anything he did as a person, but tomorrow is officially Michael Jackson day as I will listen to his music all day, as I have already this evening.

I wouldn't call it celebrating what he did or didn't do with kids. That whole chapter is sick and wierd. Just thinking of it gives me the creeps.

However, when I hear the old tunes like "ABC", "Rock with you", "Pretty Young Thing" and all of the Thriller jams it takes me back to a time in Junior High when things were a bit less crazy. Girls dressed like girls and twe dressed welll??? Let just say depending on your style you either wore tight ars pants and listen to Rock or skinny ties, a red Members Only Jacket and grew a horendous mini mullet. Oh yea Brook Shields was hot and the Russians were going to kick our arss.

You could say the musical community mourns one of their own. I wouldn't say the greatest persons ever community does. Yes, maybe NAMBLA. But, to just shrug it off, is to just ignore what he did for music. Take Johnny Cash for example. He was far from the greatest person ever. At times he was a drug addict and basically abandoned his first wife and Roseanne for June because he fell for her while he was still married to his first wife. He didn't seem to care. That whole time he was living wrecklessly and popping pills and what have you. But, he wrote many many beautiful songs(some with help, and he popularised some songs others wrote and made them beautiful- i.e. It Ain't Me, Babe). He cleaned up his act later on in life and spent more time with his kids and worked with up and coming musicians so that they could actually meet one of their iconic heroes. Do I hate him personally for abandoning his wife and child at a young age? No. He didn't do anything to me. I don't even know what The King of Pop did or didn't do to those kids. I wasn't in closed courtrooms with him or in any supposed places of a sexual crime to witness anything. From what I remember he was cleared of all charges. Could be wrong. I'm not saying he did or didn't do anything. I'm just not going to say I'm glad he's dead. There's maybe a few people I could say I'd ever say that about- Hussein, Bin Laden...Hitler. Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller are essential dance songs and affected all music even remotely similar afterward. I'm not saying it makes him a good person.

Sad day. He was a big part of my childhood as Thriller was the first album that I really remember getting into and Off the Wall shortly after. I have no idea how those cassettes found their way into the tape player, but all I can remember is loving the music and becoming a fan at age 5.

Definite influence on my musical tastes.

I seperated his personal life from his entertainment a long time ago and it makes all the difference. There are things I admire about him and things I do not. It was a truly odd life he lived, from a child on to a 50 year old. It makes sense that he might pass at a fairly young age. It's just a shock to see it happen.

The music lives on.

I am a bitted bummed, but honestly MJ has not been the same since his Thriller days. The MJ that I knew and loved died for me a long time ago!

From what I understand he was just a big old kid himself. He brought disadvantaged children to chill and have fun at his park.

Let me ask you, how much would they have to pay you? If you child was "touched" by an adult in a sick manner how much would it cost to buy you off? I'm pretty cattle trucking broke and I don't think any amount could be traded to prevent me from having them brought to punishment.

RIP you crazy bastard. I hope you were pure hearted because you passed away too early to make any wrongs right.

Never was a fan of him or his music but he was an amazing entertainer!! As many have said, he was the influence for a lot of todays music....so we can blame him!!! :D
I feel for his kids and I'm sure there will be "drama" over his estate and many many "tell all" books.
