Troubling Times for Chelsea as We Take on the Toon

These certainly have been hard times for Chelsea lately. We’ve suffered more than a few losses and draws since the “tactical genius” of the Fat Spanish Waiter took over our beloved club.  We have seen Chelsea completely not show up to these matches and also capitulate to lesser opposition late in games.

Tomorrow Chelsea travels to Newcastle to play a match that in my opinion could define the rest of our season. This will be our 153rd match against Newcastle in all competitions. We have won 63, drawn 40 and lost 49 of the previous matches. In Premier League matches we have won 18, drawn 11 and lost 8 of the 37 matches played. Seven of those losses in the Premier League have taken place at Newcastle. This will also be (hopefully) Demba Ba’s first start against his former club. The reaction from the Newcastle fans should be interesting. Ideally any animosity that is shown towards Ba from his old supporters can be turned into fuel for his goal scoring abilities.

In my opinion this match is a must win for the Blues. We have been very fortunate that with almost every misstep we have taken these past few weeks the teams directly below us, T*tt*nh*m and Le Arse, have also had their own blunders. We cannot count on Sp*rs and Arsenal to continue to draw every week that we do. It is beginning to look like first or second place is going to be out of our reach this season and it is of great importance that we further cement our spot in third place. If we want to continue to play in the Champions League next year we need to finish in at least 4th (3rd if god forbid Arsenal actually wins the Champions League this year).
