From the desk(s) of our fellow Chelsea

Season in Review: Pt. 1 – Welcome to the New Age?

Ben Mehlan here again!  Through a few technical difficulties, a busier time than expected, and a lack of motivation to go with it, I found myself only writing one article upon becoming a new writer for the site.  But rest assured, I am back for real – and starting off with a four-part season in review.  Here’s part one! ———————- As we sat down at our TV’s (or more likely (continued…)

Scheduled loss?

Oliver Kay posted something on Twitter today that got me thinking… he wrote, “@OliverKayTimes: Only caught final half-hour of Newcastle 2 Chelsea 0. Best I’ve seen #nufc look for a long time. Familiar November performance from #CFC.” Immediately, I was reminded of a very specific match from a few years back.  During the Holiday season, I was able to sneak out of work a little early, pour a stiff drink (continued…)

Lukaku’s Loan and the Road to Brazil

Again? As Transfer Deadline Day drew toward its always ridiculous conclusion, the news of Romelu Lukaku going on loan gained steam.  As I read the news, I just kept thinking, “we’re sending him out again?” When it became officially official (a tough standard in the world of BPL news) I knew I wanted write about the loan, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to approach it.  Like most Blues, (continued…)

Our Geezer

“Sometimes we need to lose, to win in the future! You are fantastic my friend @romelulukaku9 !” -David Luiz There was a constant theme running throughout this summer’s silly season and I didn’t know how I felt about it.  Nearly every day, I would check my Twitter feed (@MrBrendan23) to get the latest rumor about our squad.  I would go on Star, Mirror, Fox Soccer, and ESPN to see if (continued…)

So, Rooney?

So, Rooney? Man he was good yesterday.  I mean really, really, good.  Even as a True Blue supporter, I can say without hesitation that he was the best player on the pitch last night.  Sure, I liked what I saw from Chelsea’s back four, and, in particular, Ashley Cole was quite good at both ends.  But, from the bench I sat on at the Pizza/Grub shop, the player who jumped (continued…)

The No. 1 Problem

This column was supposed to be about Čech.  It really was. After watching our beloved Blues hang on to beat AVFC on Wednesday, it was obvious the Čech was the clear difference in securing 3 points.  He was magnificent.  I wanted to fill these pages with a simple thesis, “Courtois is good, but we need Čech to be elite.”  I was going write about his saves, his positioning, his composure, and all the (continued…)

An appreciation of Oscar

Last summer, I spent an inordinate amount of time Googling “Oscar” in an attempt to learn about the player Chelsea was going to sign.  Sadly, with a common name, it always took longer than Drogba (who comes up within a few key strokes) and his birth year (1991) became key to finding him.  After enough clicks, I learned his full name was Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Júnior and was able to (continued…)
