Chelsea in America are welcoming more ‘cheese’ to the family.
Welcome the Green Bay Blues as the newest member of the CIA coalition of 45+ Official Chelsea Supporter Groups around the US.
“Chelsea in America is excited to welcome Green Bay Blues and the growing number of Wisconsin supporters of Chelsea to our coalition of groups working together to bring Blues together,” said CIA Club Secretary John Costello. “Along with the immediately adjacent groups in Milwaukee, Chicago and MSP, our Blue family in the upper mid-west is as boisterous as any in North America. David in Green Bay, as well as Nick in Milwaukee, have done a great job building Chelsea support in Wisconsin.”
David Roy, Club Secretary & founder of Green Bay Blues provides detail on how the group as formed:
"May 29th, 2021, was the day Chelsea won the Champions League vs Manchester City. It was the day a group of Chelsea fans from work (special shoutout to Evan, and Alex!) and I decided to make the trip from Green Bay to Milwaukee. We took in all the pre-match festivities at SportClub with the Milwaukee Blues and eventually made our way to Nomad World Pub where we watched and celebrated with the rest of the Chelsea fans in attendance.
After riding the high from that victory, I decided the time was right to start a Twitter page to gauge interest from other Chelsea fans in the Green Bay and surrounding area. We were presently surprised with the response and decided to have our first watch party which we dubbed a Green Bay Derby with the local Arsenal chapter in Green Bay. We had a great turnout, and the rest is history.
We've now found ourselves a home at Ned Kelly's Pub, downtown Green Bay and are getting together at least once a month to cheer on our beloved Blues. As interest continues to pick up and we grow we hope to increase our schedule frequency to include more matches in the near future.
A very special thanks to Nick Korth and the rest of the Milwaukee Blues for helping us along the way. We're happy to say we're Carefree in Green Bay! Up the Chels and Keep the Blue Flag Flying High!"
Green Bay Blues (GBB) meets most match days, excluding the early kickoffs, at Ned Kelly’s Pub, 223 Washington Street in Green Bay.
GBB members also now become part of the American Heartland Supporters Group in the Mid-West per CFC’s rule allowing membership in two groups. American Heartland includes supporters from the upper mid-west in the US.
